It s a course steeped in history and a truly inspiring place to play. Named as one of the top 100 courses in England by golf magazines, it’s the home of the Kent Cob Open competition, and has hosted the British Senior Amateur and the English Girls championships. Unique amongst golf courses in the United Kingdom, Knole Park Golf Club is located within 1000 acres of outstanding parkland, home to the finest deer herd in the South East. Knole House, one of the greatest National Trust properties in the country, together with Knole Park itself, provides the perfect backdrop to this challenging course that was designed by J Abercromby in consultation with James Braid and has been enjoyed by its members and visitors since 1924.

We will be playing the old course.  The course was designed by Fred Hawtree from the famous Hawtree dynasty and was opened back in 1976. the mature, tree lined Old course offers up a stunning variety of holes often lauded by the UK's most knowledgable and reputable golf media.  Stretching over 6800 yards the par 72 Old course is a picturesque, undulating parkland course that provides a thrilling test for golfers of all levels. 10.30 arrival for full English breakfast  11.15. It has also hosted many other prestigious events including The Kent Open and Kent PGA Championship and has provided a fitting examination for many PGA Professionals, however with numerous teeing positions the course becomes a gentler, fairer and truly enjoyable game of golf for all abilities.

Course Overview Covering in excess of 200 acres and designed by David Williams, the golf course meanders through dramatic rolling countryside, populated by thousands of mature trees which further enhance the appeal of the setting. The topography of the course is extremely interesting with two valleys merging at the northern end offering wonderful views over Surrey’s North Downs. Carefully positioned bunkers, raised tees, tree lined fairways and two teasingly placed lakes mean a good test of a golfers repertoire is required. Full irrigation, including all fairways and USGA specification greens and tees mean the course is in top condition all year round. Although the contours of the site are dramatic, the clever use of these natural assets ensures that the vast majority of holes are played either level or downhill. There is only one real uphill shot - that being a short pitch to the raised 2nd green. As befits a Championship length status, the course has a number of difficult par 4s, of which the 16th and bunkerless 6th are two of the most difficult. However, the most challenging hole for the club player is the 3rd which requires a carry of over 150 yards across water from the championship tee. Water also plays a part on the last hole, a challenging par 4 which requires two exceptional shots to achieve a par score.
