John O'Gaunt Golf Club
08:30 – 17:00
GreenBoardroom travels to John O’Gaunt for the first time, notably Bedfordshire’s finest golf course.  Course Information. The John O'Gaunt Golf Club at Sandy in Bedfordshire was founded in 1948 The original design here, the John O’Gaunt, is regarded by many as the finest in the county. With the exception of the short sixteenth, the front nine loops round the back, and a real joy is that you constantly change direction facing new and attractive challenges all the way. The course opens with three par 4s with the second and third skirting the southern edge of the property. The second green with All Saint’s Church beyond The fourth is a superb par 3 one of just three on the course, and it is worth noting that since my visit it has been made all the more dramatic by the addition of a lake in front of the green. Looking back over the excellent par-3 fourth Five and six are excellent two-shotters, stroke index four and two respectively, while the seventh is almost as tough due to its tight drive and change in elevation. There is an uphill approach to the green at seven You return to the clubhouse via the gently uphill par 5 ninth, and the back nine opens with another terrific short hole across a valley where it pays not to be short. The tenth is a cracking short hole A handful of varied par 4s follows, with thirteen perhaps the pick of the bunch, an extremely tough two shotter with the stream waiting off the tee and again by the green for anything less than a perfect strike. The thirteenth green from beyond – stroke index one and 452 yards from the back tee The penultimate hole is a really interesting short par 5 played to a green site that is surrounded by an old, dry moat. The seventeenth green – miss it at your peril! The round finishes with a testing par 4 played up to a well-protected green with the stylish clubhouse beyond.

The Venue - Dyrham Park Country Club. A new venue for GreenBoardroom Dyrham Park Country Club's 6,497 yard course presents a rich and varied challenge, with tree-lined fairways and several water hazards. Ranked No.12 Golf Course in Hertfordshire by Top 100 Golf Courses, Dyrham Park is one of the most enjoyable Hertfordshire golf and country clubs. Designed by C.K. Cotton, the course reflects the belief of "no risk, no reward". Numerous holes feature distinctive water hazards with the spectacular 7th tempting the brave with a 200-yard carry over a lake. The 6th and 13th holes boast an impressive lake measuring some 2,000 square metres that provides a genuine and daunting challenge to golfers of all handicaps. The stretch of holes from 14-16 - known as "the loop" - can make or break a round, with water a danger on each hole, but with chances for birdies too. The 11th hole par 3 is one of the most challenging and interesting par 3s with a carry over a large lake to the green. Accurate driving and clever course management are essential. Many holes present a choice of strategies from the tee: play safely for position or unleash a driver and hope to create a birdie chance. This makes the course hugely varied and enjoyable. Old Fold Manor Golf Club
08:30 – 17:00
The Venue - Old Fold Manor The course is 6,500 yards, par 71, and it demands your concentration all the way. Originally open heathland; it now has many tree-lined fairways that make the wind direction even less predictable. It also retains the undulations and unpredictability of bounce so typical of Harry Colt designs, which bring the charm and challenge of seaside links to his inland courses. The best feature of all, maybe, are our greens; among the quickest and trickiest in the county. So, it is not surprising that the course has been chosen so often for county and national championships. It was also the Regional Qualifying course for the Open Championship from 2006-2010, and it is now the South of England venue for the worldwide Faldo Series of junior golf competitions. And, since the course opened on June 6 1910, some of the world’s greatest golfers have played here. Why not come and walk in their footsteps? Oh, and one tip: if you can draw the ball off the tee, you’ll have the best line in to most greens… The Itinerary  8.30am.    Arrival - Coffee and Introductions 8.45am.    Full English Breakfast 9.15am.     Golf Coaching Clinic with Ben Lawson PGA 10.00am.   Tee Times Commence.
